For over 85 years, the Davis Brown Law Firm has provided high quality legal services to clients. That tradition of client service excellence continues today through the recruitment, development, and retention of outstanding attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff.
Our inclusive, collegial environment fosters professional development and career growth through various mentoring and training opportunities. Due in part to the supportive environment, both attorneys and staff enjoy long tenures at the firm.
We seek professionals who share our dedication to not only clients, but also our community as a whole. Davis Brown attorneys are involved in the community through their board leadership, volunteer work, organization memberships, and pro bono work.
Among our ranks, we count leaders in the Greater Des Moines Partnership; the Iowa Historical Foundation; Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Iowa; the YMCA; the Iowa International Center; The Iowa Biotechnology Association; the American Nurses Association; Chrysalis Foundation; Iowa National Guard; local bar associations; political organizations; and many more.
Davis Brown's commitment to leadership and community development goes back to the founding of the firm. A. Arthur Davis, a named partner in the firm, played a key role in the founding of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute in 1979. Since that time, over 25 Davis Brown attorneys have completed the program including but not limited to Robert Holz '85, Michael Kulik '87, Frank Carroll '88, Lori Chesser '93, Julie Johnson McLean '00, Scott Brennan '02, Jason Stone '09, Courtney Strutt Todd '10, Jason Ross '10, Christopher James '12, Krystle Campa '14, Tara Hall '15, Michele Brott '16, and Maggie Hanson '17. Past graduates continue to be active in the Institute and for many years, Davis Brown alumni have served on the Board of Directors.
Davis Brown's values are also reflected in the consistent female leadership at all levels of the firm, including past firm presidents and the board of directors. At a time when women are growing in the U.S. American workforce, and women make up more than 50% of the graduating classes from law schools, just 4% of the top 200 law firms in the U.S. have female, firm-wide managing partners.1 Davis Brown has been a leader in the area of female leadership for almost 20 years. Among major law firms in Des Moines, Davis Brown ranks highest in terms of female attorneys.
